FI Space: Low Bore Factor
Stumbled across this blog, FI Space -- "a dynamic journal about the future, innovation and change." Sounded interesting and right in line with our theme (or part of our theme--I don't see anything there about golf or Victorian literature!)--but then I read their full "about" statement, which begins this way:
FI Space is a dynamic journal for the discussion of the future, innovation and change pertaining to the American Cancer Society. A dialogue about these topics has been occurring among the members of the Society's Futuring and Innovation Center (FICenter) for some time. FI Space was created to open participation in the discussion to staff and volunteers.
This sounded boring. I imagined carefully vetted blocks of corporate-speak and soporific discussions of fund raising. There's some of that, but exploring further I found posts like this and this and this and this. And even this, which manages to combine organizational cautiousness with mild titillation. Posts on the site are categorized into topics such as "Info Tech," "Innovation," "Life Science," "Personal Change" and "Social Change." I took a pass on "Fund Raising & NPOs" and "Organizational Change," though, as likely yawners. But that's just me.
