Forever Young: Note on Supplements

Note: Posts labeled "Forever Young" relate to life extension, anti-aging, longevity and in particular my personal experiments in ways to stay looking and feeling many years younger than one's chronological age.

In upcoming posts I will recommend specific vitamins and other nutrients that I believe have contributed, either a lot or a little, to my personal anti-aging program. Really, there are only three or four (at most) that I consider essential, though I sometimes take as many as a dozen different ones.

If you can afford only to take a couple of different ones on an ongoing basis, that's all right--I'll publish a list of my recommendations in descending order of importance IN MY OPINION. Taking the top two from that list will give you 75 to 90% of the anti-aging benefits that are currently possible to obtain from supplements--IN MY OPINION.

For now, though, I want to give a shameless plug to a company I've been doing business with for years.

When you shop for nutritional supplements, you must make sure you buy from a reputable source. Quite frankly, the supplement industry is a consumer minefield. Studies have found that many of the products available in the marketplace--even those from your drugstore, not to mention the ones bought over the Internet--contain little to none of the primary vitamin or nutrient for which they're labeled.

Your money and your health are too important to take chances.

One vitamin/supplements company that I can recommend unreservedly is Swanson Health Productsm. They've never disappointed.

Swanson also consistently has the best prices on most the nutrients that I use (and I've done a lot of comparison shopping). They also have frequent sales, like this one.

To be honest, I still think, as I stated in an earlier "Forever Young" post, that mental attitude plays the major role in slowing aging. Vitamins and nutritional supplements are perhaps third or fourth on the list. Nevertheless, they can play a part in keeping you young.

If this topic interests you, please bookmark this blog and check back from time to time. I'll have many specific recommendations, including some that may surprise you.
