I Need A Drink (Recipe)

I'm still tyring to find out how to make a drink known as a whisky and potash. Evidently this drink was somewhat in vogue in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, judging from references to it in novels and short stories of the time. Please enlighten me if you know.
