Weird Alabama
Is the entire state of Alabama just plain weird? Or do weird things occasionally happen there, as they do everywhere else? I haven't decided the answer yet myself, and I grew up in the place and lived there many years as an adult. Thus it is with fevered anticipation and a thrill of spooky connectedness that I discover there is a new magazine being published called Weird Alabama. The web site is here--unfortunately, the site doesn't contain much in the way of content except for a few offbeat and puzzling photographs, but it sounds like the magazine itself delivers on the promise of its title; the second issue has artcles on ghosts, the Brushy Creek Boogerman, "Alabama in Moscow," a tinfoil alien(?), giant catfish, weird plants, weird animals, weird cemeteries ... plus a "skeptic's corner" presumably to give some balance and calm down reader brains overheated by all the weirdness. I'm definitely planning on subscribing.
