Does Jon Stewart's Podcast of the Knitting Scene from Star Wars Constitute Terrorism?

Embedded in this post are the top-ten blog search terms for the day over at Technorati's beta site. So it won't look like shameless hustling for hits, I'll comment on each one (so it's moderate hustling, OK?). First we have Podcast. No surprise there. Podcasting is an exciting development to this long-time audio and radio fan. So why haven't I sought out those podcasting aggregators, or actually listened to more than a couple of podcasts, or started my own podcast for that matter. I guess because I simply have no more time left to give over to a new interest. Next comes Star Wars. Of course. I saw the first three movies in the series (or should I say the middle three? I really can't follow Lucas's non-sequential production scheme) , and I'll probably see this last one eventually. Moving on to Wikipedia.org ... what's there to say? It's an online encyclopedia that anyone can edit. I've written a few articles for it myself. Terrorism -- rapidly becoming a dreary subject, and a frustrating one, as no one seems inclined to apply it to states in addition to stateless groups and rogue individuals. Clearly, the employees of states have perpetrated far more terrorism throughout history than have the non-state-affiliated. Knitting. Knitting? How'd that get into the top 10? My congratulations to the knitters of the world! I'm impressed. Fickr.com -- not even sure what this is; a movie site probably. ... OK, I just went there and now I remember. It's a place to post your photos, and for some reason seems to attract bloggers in greater numbers than other photo-sharing sites. One of these days I'll check it out more thoroughly; maybe it's the site I'll choose for sharing my trip photos when I go to Guatemala later this year. Now I show how out-of-touch with cultural currents I am: I can't really tell you who John Stewart is (only isn't Jon the correct spelling? Maybe we're talking two different guys here). I'm pretty sure he has a TV show of some kind. I know that for the past two years, maybe more, I've encountered his name everywhere. Instead of Googling him, I invite my more clued-in readers to tell me who he is, via my commenting tool. Time to wrap this up quickly, so here are the last three on Technorati's top-10 list for today: News -- yes, yes, we all want news; Web Video -- for when you're not listening to podcasts; and (drum roll) ... Politics. And there you have it. By the way, do take a look at Technorati's beta site.

Jon Stewart is the host of a political comedy talk-show called The Daily Show, which airs on Comedy Central. He wrote a book about American democracy. He fried the two hosts of CNN's "news show" CrossFire and if you search I'm sure you can find a video of it online somewhere.
He's a smart, funny, guy and seems like he'd be a decent person in real life.

Jake: Thank you for the comment. Now I'm enlightened (if still not hip).
