Wasn't the future wonderful?

I Just Can't Leave This One Alone

When I blogged about the zombie dog story yesterday, I was one of only two or three bloggers doing so. Now I check in with Technorati to find that it's the most-discussed news story in the Blogosphere this morning (or at least that part of the sphere tracked by Technorati). I still do wonder why the only news site it has appeared on is news.au.com.

By the way, shouldn't Zombie Dogs of Pittsburgh be the name of either a rock group or a movie?

And just to recap the essentials of the story:

"Scientists have created eerie zombie dogs, reanimating the canines after several hours of clinical death in attempts to develop suspended animation for humans.

"The scientists have succeeded in reviving the dogs after three hours of clinical death, paving the way for trials on humans within years."

The technique involves draining the dog's veins of blood and filled with an ice-cold salt solution.
Three hours later its blood is replaced and the dog is brought back to life with an electric shock.

The idea with humans is to save lives such as battlefield casualties and victims of stabbings or gunshot wounds, who have suffered huge blood loss.

While the person is in suspended animation--and clinically, dead--damaged blood vessels and tissues could be repaired via surgery.
