iPod to Converge with Your Notebook?

Most talk about gadget convergence doesn't excite me. Most of the ideas seem pointless--for instance, the TV built into the door of a refrigerator. Here's a convergence I might go for, though: a in iPod/notebook computer combo, for which Apple has filed a patent, according to this web site. (The patent application number is 20040224638, in case you want to look it up yourself.)

The article's author thinks this is "one of Apple's coolest ideas" and "could be a market winner." But what excites him the most is that "it’s not in a separate patent unto itself but rather within the framework of a patent that is primarily covering wireless capabilities that extend up to higher RF frequencies that are associated with cell phones." Read the original article to understand why this writer thinks that this is the really significant aspect of this new convergent technology.
