MyRoom: The Box I've Been Looking For
The Yamaha Corp. is now offering something called the MyRoom, according to a news item seen in several places. The MyRoom is described as a "customizable, soundproof, shed-like structure, with 27 square feet of floor space." It is aimed at Japanese consumers to install inside their "notoriously crowded" homes. Although originally developed as a space for musicians to practice in, Yamaha is now marketing it as a place where a person can escape to for privacy and peace and quiet (or, as the story notes, "be exiled if he or she gets annoying"). The company is expecting a sales surge in 2006, when Japan's first wave of baby-boom salarymen retire and begin spending more time around home. MyRoom will sell for the equivalent of U.S. $5,500. Question: When can I be able to get one of these here in America?
